Joe is right. You basically have paper protecting parts of your roof. One strong windstorm & that's all she wrote.

At one point did someone try and clean the shingles to remove fungus or moss?

Happen to have any of the shingles laying aroud that were left over or better yet a recept or the package they came in?
Reason I ask is there's several class action sutes againt shingle companys because the granuals came off.
Here's one of them. Just Google "shingle recalls" for more of them.
