Roof sarking

Hi folks. I am halfway through an extension and have realised that my builder has not put up any roof sarking. The pitch on my roof is very high, creating quite a void in the roof. For insulation optimisation should I ask him to take the tiles off and add the sarking or is it unnecessary?

what is "sarking" ? I have never heard this term.

I think that "sarking" is what we call roofing felt (tar paper).
It should be put on (even under heavy roofing tiles) in case things are ever blown off, IMHO, but they don't do it here either in some places if the roof is real steep.

All roofs should have a felt underlayment no matter what the pitch is. Its a bad roofing practice, usually against building codes and voids most warranties to do otherwise. "sarking ??" over 20 years of roofing and never heard that term.
