Roof Sarking

I am building a pergola with a 20 deg pitched roof, I have decided to use sarking to keep it cooler.
I know the blue side faces up but Im not sure if the sarking goes on top of battens or under. I have already put battens in. I have done this sort of thing before but it was over 15 years ago and I just can't remember..
