Roof mounting a pergola

I need some ideas for mounting a wood pergola to an asphalt roof. I'd like to mount a 2x6 parallel to the edge of the roof, about a foot up, that I can tie the crossmembers in to. Wondering if there was some sort of metal bracket that can be screwed into the rafters through the shingles that I can mount the 2x6 to. That being said, what's the best way to weatherproof the bracket/screws to ensure it doesn't leak?

Roof mounting a pergola

You probably need to mount a post(s) through the roof to the framing and attach the 2x to it if I'm visualizing what you're up to correctly. There is off the shelf flashing for that sort of connection. It might be possible to surface mount the post after locating the framing. It would be flashed the same way.
