Roof Leak

so had a roofer come out and fix my roof. new flashing removed all shigles around the chimmney, re-did the ice and water shield around the chimmney build a cricket behind the chimmney and put everything back together looks great. Rained hard today went up into the attic to see if the there was any leaking and the chimmney looked like it had wet patches on it. no more water coming in around the chimmney now looks like the brick is sweating and water is comin in that way. Cant win dont know what to do. Any help would be great. Next step for me is try waterproofing the brick on the roof with a repeller dont even know if that is going to do anything UGH!!

Possibly the roofer was right about calling a mason? Though how he could know that without looking is a mystery to me. A roofer could possibly share some insight. I would say your next step is to check the chimney cap (Concrete shoulder?) and the pointing between the bricks. the water will continue to leak downward and in between freeze ant thaw cycles will continue to erode the chimney. The sooner it gets fixed, the cheaper it will be. I didn't want to spend the extra 800-1000 quoted to fix my chimney when I was already replacing the roof but bit the bullet. Thank God for HELOC's.
