Roof delima

First house. Need some info before I decide on roof.House is 28'x28' . Four rooms at 14'x14'. Will post pic's someday. Going with 3/12 shed style that will get a addition somewhere in near future. One question I have is metal roof or shingle? Low side of roof will be on west side,and is where the wind and rain mostly come from.Going with 2x8 rafters on 16oc. Knee wall on top edge will be 7' giving me the 3/12 and knee wall in middle of span. Next question is for sheeting. 5/8 osb. And last question is for ventilation for attic,supposed to be 6" of blown in insl there. Afraid to look.lol Really would like to sheet it off for added thermal ins. Going to be here for awhile and want it to last. I would like to do soffit vents on low side and add ridge vent on high side of roof when I build the addition. Will be using window ac's for cooling house and wood stove to heat.

3/12 pitch is really not good for shingles.You can do it by going 4 inches to the weather instead of 5 inches,but that's pushing it.I would go with corragated or rubber

Got up in attic this weekend and fraing for roof is all 2x4 rough sawn lumber no ridge beam . So tear off will be easy enough.Going to frame up 5' knee wall in center and go with 2x6 rafters on 16oc then 1x4's on 12oc then felt and 26g standing rib alum. Got good deal on metal for 2.05 linear foot. so should only cost 1500. Now which new toys to buy for the job ?
