Ridge venting vs turtle vents in snow conditions

OK so why do I get so many different opinions on this subject from roofing contractors what is the best option? I have good soffit vents and turtles but I want to go ridge and also add side wall gable vents. Snow covering both types of roof vents is the consideration. Thank for the help.

The reason you get so many different opinions is because both ridge & turtle vents work when properly installed.

I lean toward ridge vents myself because I see them as being aesthetically the better choice.

Far as gable vents go, your going to find mixed opinions there as well.
I always recommend not using them in cases where proper intake, unobstructed air flow and exhaust is/can be achieved with out them.

I would remove the turtle vents and either just add a long ridge vent, or add gable vents with a fan on one of the gable vents.

Because many roofing contractors are misinformed on the subject?

Ridge, turtle, power, gable, and soffit vents all work well together, and in the case of heavy snow covering some of these vents, are preferable. Depends on the situation.
