ridge shingle vent for shed


i bought three 4-ft ridge vents for my shed that is in construction. the grills on either side are about 10-12" apart, i was wondering how wide of a gap to cut on my ridge. the Roof Center people told me about 3" but i am here to verify.

ridge shingle vent for shed


...1 1/2" down each side is about right.
