Reroofing over low sloped roof

I have a sloped roof with two layers of 90# . A roofer wants to place a 4-ply torchdown over top and install breather vents near top of roof. The last layer of 90# is over 15 yrs. old and has started to leak. I guess I did a poor install when I did the roof.
Thank You for and replies.
Ed

Thanks for reply. They want to apply the torchdown over top of the old roofing. Sorry that I can not post pictures. I am sure the roof is alligatored due to its age. They did not say anything about a coverboard.

IMO thats a pretty dangerous situation.I would ask for a detailed description of his project procedure.I would do this prior to job commencement.

If not have the # to the fire department handy.IMO

3 base plys and a cap sheet? Thats alot of torching. Even if you nailed a base. I would really get a detailed proposal on this.

Don Smith 03-30-2011 01:32 PM

Torch 3 base plys and a cap sheet. Over two 90# that are on it already on it. Holly **** I feel sorry for who ever tears that off

I agree. Best to just tear it off and single ply it.
