Ok, On my porch it looks like the current rolled roofing is very near the end of it's life expectancy, so I am wondering what options I have to replace it? I would probably want to use some of the Self Adhesive rolled roofing material, but was wondering what kind I should look at.
Also, Do I need to remove the old one, or can I install the new one right over it?
And is there anything special to note when installing it?
Certainteed flintlastic SA. Excellent system. Do not skimp, do the full 3-ply system.
Of all types of roofing, I'd say SA's are probably the most DIY friendly system out there. Common sense and follow directions and you should get a fine job out of it.
Yes, you should remove the old roofing and start with a clean slate. One nice thing about flintlastic is it starts with a nailed base so you don't have to worry about a new surface to adhere to because it is not adhered. Also they have a decent color selection.
