I am considering replacing an Asphalt Shingle roof w/ Cedar shingle using Cedar Breather. One of the reasons I am hesitating is I don't want to add the cost of replacing all my trip to accomodate the gap that will be created between the eaves and rakes by the cedar breather. Currently my trip is tight up against my asphalt roof and w/ the added gap of the Cedar breather I will have a gap. Has anyone come up with a creative way to cover the gap without it looking cheap or compromising the roof.
Nail a board up along the rake edges and then install a sheet metal drip edge. If the clearance needs to be elevated, they sell larger profiles or you can have some custom made metal fabricated for you from a roofer or sheet metal contractor.
