Repair Chicago Brick Chimney
Chicago brick was used on the chimney and it is flaking away. We have recently placed our hosue on the market and would like to repair/replace the chimney. The quote I received to rebuild the chimeny was $2,600 and I am looking for a better option. Isn't the brick just cosmetic? Could it be covered with something or filled in and painted with epoxy paint or secured and surrounded by wood and covered with some protection to prevent water damage? What are my options??

I would never ecommending a band aid type fix over a proper job.

HAve it rebuilt and add it to the selling price.

Thats a good price for a chimney rebuild. just do it right, its not worth getting sued over to save a couple of dollars.

Is the cost for the chimney just for going from the roof up to the top of the chimney or is this to go from the ground to the top of the chimney?

I wood not rap a chimney with any combustible material the problem is the inside need to be air Tight any sided chimney you see on a newer construction has a double wall pipe and fire stop built in to it so just do it right
