Removal of gutters for new roof
Do I have to remove the gutters to put a new roof on?

A whole lot easyer if you do, and less change of there getting damaged or stained.

No you don't have to.

But if you're going to replace your roof and your gutters, leave them on during the roofing tear-off process to catch nails and other small debris. Makes clean up that much easier.

Sometimes if the roof is super steep and everything hits the ground it might be a good idea.I have never removed guttering to accommodate a new roof installation.

In Missouri 80% of guttering is attached by gutter posts and spikes. When removing the gutters its difficult to remove the spikes without damaging the fascia and wrap. Then you have to raise or lower the guttering because you would not want to use the same holes to set the spike.

If you raise/lower the gutters then the downspouts have to be reset. Then the entire gutter system has to be set for drainage. It creates more problems than it prevents IMO.

Make sure your roofers are using ladder braces/stand offs. They keep the ladder off the guttering.
