We are adding on and renovating a 110+ year old farmhouse. I want the old fashioned white siding with a red roof. The sleeker look of the traditional 3-tab shingle vs. the relief of the architectural shingle would look more authentic. We live on the Virginia coast, so we do get one or two good storms each summer season. It seems that the older style has lower wind ratings. Red is hard to find. And, I haven't seen many reviews of this style of shingle (probably due to the current popularity of the architectural shingle). Any suggestions?
P.S. I'd really love a metal roof, but the cost seems out of reach. If you have suggestions about metal, let me know.
