Chalet shingles by Atlas Roofing Corp were installed 5.5 yrs ago and the entire roof is covered with blisters. Filed claim w/Atlas who responded this is strictly a cosmetic problem, not a manufacturing defect. They claim the blistering is only due to an "overlay" giving the appearance of a 3 dimensional look. I feel certain these blisters will continue to pop and eventually crack which will result in leakage. Is there currently an active Class Action Suit on this topic and do you believe I have reason to be concerned?

Yes you have reason to be concerned - my roof is 8 years old and I have the blistering and now cracking. I have had to patch two roof leaks already. I am pursuing a class action lawsuit against Atlas - contact me at ------------------

Just Google Atlas Class Action.
This is not the legal aid office.

Again, Blistering points to either moisture within the shingle matrix, or VOC's escaping in the form of gas.
The limestone filler could have been wet during production, the glass mat could have moisture within it (Yes, fiberglass if often tubular, and moisture can get into the tubes.) or any number of other things.
Lab tests can usually determine what is going on. If you open the blisters is it shiny inside? Steam from vaporized moisture. Same thing you see when damp felts are used in an asphalt Built Up Roof.

Not a chance Lance.
I tried to keep up with him for a 3-day stretch and he lapped me like it was his job.
He is a machine.
Now...if we could harness his powers for evil....

He's my secret:
To lazy and old to get another real job.
To cold or rainy to go outside this time of year.
Have trouble sleeping.

Too Clear
Too much wood smoke.
Not enough Wood smoke.
Too Many Neighbors
Not Enough Neighbors
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Hay any excuse to not have to do anything works for me.
I did pick up a small sounding job to just patch a hole in a drywall ceiling this week.
I get there and this ceiling has been leaking off and on for years. The home owner tryed to "patch it" himself.
Used 1/2 drywall for the patches where it should have been 5/8, tape all falling off, looked like he had cut the hole to fix the plumbing with a dull chainsaw.

As if you have never used 1/2" for 5/8" before? So now we are Mr.Perfect?
