Railing on walk out roof

Sort of a newb-ish question, and I hope I have the right section, but here goes:

I have a walk out roof and want to add a railing to it. Two sides of the roof touch the side of the house. How could I attach such a thing without creating problems? I've thought about anchoring it to the side of the house, but that leaves the problem of what do at the corner of the roof that is away from the house. I'm having a contractor torch on new roofing, so I'll have some flexibility as to whether the rail or roof is installed first, but he only does roofing, so he won't touch the railing part.

Railing on walk out roof

Great question. I too want to add some railings to my roof as well. It is an old historic house, and they once were there. I recently had a new roof (flat) put on, so I am very interested as to the answers you get.
