I've found some online calculators that are useful in telling me the rafter length, but I'm wondering if there's a more comprehensive formula that will tell me the length, plumb cuts, and location of the bmouth cutout and how much of a stand to leave and stuff.
I'll soon be framing a simple gabled roof for a shed which spans 10' with a 1' overhand (or more). I want a 6/12 or 7/12 pitch.
I've actually just put a 2x up at the center point
I put a nail in the 2x to hold the top of the rafter up
Then I hold up the rafter where I want it & draw the cuts I need
Works on smaller stuff, & I did the same on my garage addition
