Question about vents on roof and roof leak.
Hi, I had a leak in my roof of my vaulted ceiling that caused a mold spot. I cut a hole in the ceiling and noticed a piping which I was surprised to see this high in the house. I took a pic of the piping as well as the roof of the house in the area of the leak. I presumed the black pipe on the roof and the silver chimney were some sort of attic vents or bathroom fan vents but what is the piping for? The leak appears to be coming from where the chimney vent is on the right. What is that for and why is there a pipe underneath it? Thanks.
The black pipe is most likely your sewer vent and the chimney most like vents your gas water heater and/or furnace.
