Question about "LP Smartside"

We are thinking about re-siding our house when we build a 3 season porch, and a builder highly recommended LP Smartside. Are you guys familiar with it? Is it a nice, quality siding? Generally, how does the price compare to vinyl siding? We definitely want a no maintenance siding. Thanks.

Question about "LP Smartside"

I like it. I believe it is a good product.

Cost compared to vinyl is more than double and in some cases triple.

Question about "LP Smartside"

It's just OSB with a wood grain pattern and a coating on it.
Sure hope it's not any closer to any solid surface then 6" or it will rot out.

Question about "LP Smartside"

After installing a couple thousand squares of LP in the 80's and then hauling a couple thousand squares to the dump in the 90's after the class action suit settled convincing me on LP Siding would be a tough sell on anything other than a shed maybe.

Yes the re-branded themselves as new and improved but still looks the same to me.

It depends what you're looking for and your price point. There's been a vast amount of issues with all types of siding.

We've installed a fair amount of LP in your area without issues.
