Proper way to vent this poorly vented attic - Pic

Hey guys,

Troubleshooting why my upstairs is so much hotter than the downstairs. Discovered that there is a ridge vent on the roof, but no soffitt vents!

My plan was to install a gable vent on each side of the house to allow air to pass through. Or is the better option to install soffitt vents and use the ridge vent as an exhaust?

No soffits, or not able to install, place vents on the four faces (Left & right), so that air can be drawn in and up & across.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

The house does have soffitts so soffitt venting is an option.

I would not be able to install a gable vent on the portion of the attic that is unaccessible.

Soffit and ridge venting is ideal and proven performance wise.

Leave the gable vents and vent via the soffits.
