Poor venting caused brown stain?

I wish I could but I'd have to get someone to take down some of the ceiling. I showered once more yesterday morning and as I showered I saw moisture forming on the ceiling. Look at the pic , that's the 2nd circle. Also , I put small dots around to make sure it wasn't expanding and it hasnt.

You need to poke your head in the attic.

Given that we are in the heating season, my first hypothesis would be that you have a venting issue and are getting condensation on the underside of the roof (assuming there hasn't been any rain and it is not a leak issue).

If that is the case, you need to fix these issues as of yesterday or you are going to incur some really expensive repairs.

Is there no way to access the attic above the bath?

It sounds like the vent isn't working very well, which could be due to an air restriction at the bathroom door. There needs to be a small gap under the door for proper suction, so if there isn't try keeping the door cracked while showering.

The hose could also be kinked which would seem more likely with the stain off to the side of the vent. Is that light thing in the pic in fact the vent? And what about that other stain?

Can we get a pic of the house/roof where the bath is, to guess what they did with the vent hose and about your insulation/ventilation?

Surprised Quagmire didn't offer to come check it out while you were showering

Ok gents. I had someone take the area of the ceiling down. The ceiling was wet and the sheet rock was too. Initially I thought it was the roof but it hasn't rained in weeks. So I am thinking it has to be condensation that melted on the day we reached 60. I need to figure out where the damp air is getting in ,,, perhaps our fan is worthless?

Could be a lot of things----Pictures will help---or get an insulation expert up there---they see it all--

Do you not have access to the attic? Did I miss that somewhere?
