Is good idea to use beam 410 on a pergola of 1616?

What exactly is it you want to do with the 4x10 beam?

This feels like 20 questions. Maybe you can post a sketch of what you are trying to build. How far apart are the posts. Where are you located? Are you planning to support the roof with the beams? What are your local code requirements. if any? Are you planning to design for wind load, or is it OK if the roof flies away during a major storm? Right now I have no idea exactly what you are building, and there is no context for the beam question.

16x16 with six posts would mean 8' on center. 4x10 is overkill but your local lumber yard would be able to tell you what the minimum requirement is.

And pergola's don't have roofs that will blow away in the wind. Other than that I agree.
This is more a framing question than a roofing question
