patching a rubber roof

We have to patch about a 4'x8' section of a low sloped rubber roof. The reason for the patch is that we are removiing a chimney that comes up through the overhang and we'll have to fix the resulting hole and maybe a little more because of water damage.

I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for how to go about repairing a rubber roof like this.

Thanks!

you will have to splice in a piece of membrane. best bet is to get a roofer.

Rubber, ie; EPDM, is similar to a bicycle tire inertube.

Many people mistakenly call APP or SBS Modified Bitumen roof membranes a rubber roof.

First, be sure of what you have up there.
