Pa. roofing codes

My insurance company is dropping my homeowners coverage because they said my roof (which was installed 15 years ago) was not properly nailed in the correct fashion, I believe they said it was a skip pattern. is it possible that the code 15 years ago allowed this type of installation? Which then it might be grandfathered in?

How long have you owned the home and how many insurance payments have you made?

Let them know if it isn't good enough now, then it never was and you want all monies you paid them to insure your house back.

Who is the insurance company?

Hearing the term skipped pattern only brings one thing to mind which is the installers 3 nailed the shingles instead of 4 nailed, which means they 'skipped lifting the tab/end of shingle as they installed them using the racked method.
3 nailing voids the manufacturer warranty and always has since I started roofing in 1979.

There is more to this story...How many claims have you filed? How long have you been insured with this company? How do they know how many nails are in your shingles? I mean, if the roof has held up for 15 years, what's the problem? But don't despair, there are MANY insurance companies waiting to fill your needs without a roof inspection...
