Overwhelmed lady here! Roofing quotes - Storm Chasers?

I hope I am in the right place. Recently our area was hit by crazy hail and both my insurance agency and a local door to door roofing person confirmed I had hail damage. Many of my neighbors did as well as new roofs are flying up here over night and the two companies that have gone door to door are Chris Miller and Sutherlands Exteriors. Both seem to have offices in the area within the last year or so and both are able to supply references from a few years back. Prior to this none of us have heard of them.

Trouble is, they are willing to accept whatever the insurance check will cover and even gave my neighbor 2 free sides of siding b/c their insurance would only pay for 2 sides. The workers on the job are most definately foreign and could be the most hardest working people in America, I have no issue with it at all, but am concerned that costs are being cut to be able to offer such reduced fees on siding/roofing.

A local roofer with excellent references quoted me 42k for siding and roofing. He personally thought the siding looked fine, besides a few dings here and there and questioned WHY I would replace it. The roofer however he agreed was showing its age.

My insurance company is allowing 20k for roof and siding so the door to door people would accept this.....So many of my neighbors are doing it I feel foolish not to yet how can they do an awesome job with such a limited budget?

Any thoughts?????

Stormchaers are exactly as the name says, when all the work from this storm is done, they will be onto the next one.
When they leave so does your warranty.
My advice is to get a couple more estimates from local contractors who have good references. Tell them you need a line item estimate for your insurance company.
Take your time and don't rush into a situation you are not comfortable.

There is a reason that the company doing the storm work will do it cheaper...they don't care after 2 years because they are out of town.

Without question, 95% of the work that we fix on "newer" roofs and siding was done by companies chasing the storm work.

The market may tolerate a quote somewhere between the local roofer and the storm company.

If the siding is not that bad, why file the claim and drive up your and every other persons insurance. Nothing is for free in this world and I can assure that money does not come from nowhere.

If the roof requires replacement, replace it.
