Opinions/experience with Attic Breeze Solar Fan?

American Made and Lifetime warranty. Compared to many other solar fans I looked at these have high CFM rated for up to 1550 CFM of airflow in full sun exposure from 25W panel.

Also, currently have a ridge vent, but its too short for hip roof and not doing its job. Here is what Attic Breeze has to say about combining the 2 (see below), but I concerned about the cheaper Cobra foam ridge vent causing snow and water infiltration as an intake. Or am I jut being paranoid

Should I just close up the ridge vent and how is this normally done since decking has been cutout for gap for ridge vent? Is it closed from inside, outside?

When installing Attic BreezeŽ products in conjunction with ridge vents, the solar attic fan unit should be installed a minimum of 5-6 feet away from the ridge vent to allow for balanced airflow through the attic. Experience shows that this distance will typically allow enough air diffusion space for proper balancing of air intake ventilation from both the ridge vent and other passive roof vents.

Please note that while the Attic Breeze solar attic fan is operating, the ridge vent will work in reverse acting as air intake vent. In fact, every passive vent on your roof will act as an air intake vent while the fan is operating. This is not a problem, just a different method of operation for your roof's ventilation system. When the solar attic fan is not operational (at night, during rainstorms, etc...), the ridge vent will function as normal.

I ended up buying this today after more research on solar attic fans, seems like the best out. Although the company is new, 5 years running.

Attic Breeze Zephyr AB-252D-GRY

I like:
American made
Lifetime warranty
higher 25W better type monocrystalline solar panel
sealed bearings
weatherproof metal
14" fan blade
1550 CFM

Of course manufactured in USA means alot of things to different marketing folks, so I still have an email into them on if they use all american parts.

One fan will cover my 1925 sq. ft. on an 8/12 weatherwood colored roof.

1550 cfm is monster for a solar fan. GAF's fans are 550CFM and AirVent are 880. I have used many airvent solar fans with good results. I've never heard of the fan you mentioned.
