Opinion of work in progress
Contractor is doing a tear off then re-roofing and installing aluminum fascia & soffit. I only do electrical and some smaller home projects so my question is does this look correct? The shingles look lumpy to me but I'm told they will lay flat in 1-2 weeks after warm weather (BS?).

The shingles will lay flat with some time and heat. It won't take much. We have done roofs in the middle of winter and they lay down just fine with some sun.

That pipe collar is done wrong. The bottom half is supposed to be on top of the shingles. Not under them.

Looks like the collar of the vent may be too.

More photos. I'll have a friend of a co-worker who does roofing stop by to give it look in person later this week too. Thanks for your feedback.

Man, I cannot stand guys who do their valleys that way.

Since I see no vents at the ridge I guessing your not going to open up the soffits and add vents at the eves while you have the chance either.
It’s hard for me to believe that a contractor with any level of experience would not have told you that vents are needed and now is the time to do it. |

I zoomed in and it appears the collar bottom is over the shingles. Here are some additional photos.
(from wife) The images posted here are so disappointing. If we could see the inconsistencies from the ground, it's scary to see them close up. I am sad that the crown molding was taken off, especially since it uncovered the unpainted section of the fascia. BTW, we are getting new siding as well, I hope that experience is better. |
Not a fan of the work product there at all.

Here is what it used to look like.

The Vents were on top. -Attaching images of the roof as it was. I hope the vents were re-installed. I did see them stack a bunch on the driveway. House on left is ours, house on right shows the roof line better. Strange how the vents are only on 1 side. (?) Wishing they would have used the type of venting system that hides it all under the peaks. |
Amongst other things.,.,who was the genius that chose the white drip edge?.,.,and what is the deal with the porch ven?

"I zoomed in and it appears the collar bottom is over the shingles."
Now that is something to see! The lower flange of a PC gives 4-5" of protection from blown rain. Why on earth would some idiot cut the flange off????? It's there for a reason just like 'termination flashing' which the bottom flange is! Now, you have no protection there. |
