OLD house needs a new roof...

Went to look at an old 2500sq ft 1915 victorian house yesturday. Roof is ceder chake with about 3 - 4 courses of ashfault shingle on it.

I did not see any wanter leakes or anything.

Any estimate as to what this would cost to be redone? Would it need to be torn off and then plywood laid to redo?

There are alot of factors involved to give you price, especially on a project like that.Cedar+3-4layers(ouch)that'll cost. How steep?Location?Someone in your area could probably give you a better idea on price range. In my area it would cost anywhere from $17000-$25000.I'm just throwing figures out at you, like I said.I don't think anybody could give you exact cost without actually seeing it for themselves..

Yes you would have to sheet this roof as well, and I imagine there would be some rot as well that would have to be replaced.

Can you access the property from the back? Can you get a bin close to the house? If not thats a lot of roofing to pack to a bin.Nice looking house though.Doesnt look that hard to roof.If you dont have access looks like you will have to pack everything up as well.More$$$$

Yes, there is plenty of access. Lot is 64 x 150. House is manybe 50 wide (sit's to the left) and about 75' from the street to the back. Plenty of room for a dumpster.
