Noises from the roof

There is this constant annoying noise from the basement roof all the time. It happens only in one particular area, is extremely loud at nights and happens constantly until morning. It's kind of like a "popping" sound that leaves an echo behind. I can hardly sleep and makes me late for work, grumpy, and sleep deprived. What could be causing this noise?

Noises from the roof

Since you hear it what do you think it is?

If you hear it and can't figure it out I do not know how you expect someone on a forum to be able to figure it out.

That being said in the spirit of cooperation I will answer your question, "What could be causing this noise?"

COULD be a racoon???

Also what is a basement roof?

Was waiting for someone to ask!!!

What is A floor! Where's my prize Alex?

The noise could be anything from a poltergeist to structure movement.

No such thing as a basement roof. Do you live in the basement and it's the ceiling making this noise?

Goodness you said roof in your post AND you said roof in the topic line.

Not paid to figure out what you are thinking.

Also reread your first post where you try to identify the noise. You say:

It's kind of like a "popping"

I have a general idea what a popping sounds like but have no idea what a " sounds like.

Now is it coming from the basement ceiling or the 1st level floor?

Does this sound from the roof...I mean ceiling....only happen when a forced air furnace is operating?
