New roof on top of new roof?

I have a new Elk Prestique I High Definition roof. All old roofing were tear-off. The roof supplier delivered the wrong color roof and the contractor put it on anyway. Now they offer to put the right color roof on top of the existing new roof.
Should i ask for a tear-off? Would there be a problem of moisture trapped between the 2 layers? Would the roof look better starting with a flat surface? Would ventilation be better with only 1 layer of new roof?
Thank you very much.

I believe I'd insist on the tear off for a number of reasons but the roofers should be along here shortly to give you the straight scoop. HS.

As I recall, you are not allowed to install new shingles on an old layer.

I would demand a tear off at there cost.

I think we're still allowed 3 roofs but it is very rearly done. Those fellows can tear off a roof faster than i can drive to home depot. HS.

It is the contractor's responsibility to install the correct roofing system for you.

You have the right to receive the job you paid for. Ultimately, no matter what color was delivered, it is the contractor's responsibility to make sure it is the right color, brand, lifespan, etc.

If you go over a heavy architectural, it will look terrible and fail prematurely.

I would have to say you need to insist on the job you paid for, and no band-aid cures.
