new roof


we are putting on a new roof - which is better Certainteed or Timberline - I know certainteed had a lawsuit

can someone please help me decide which roofing shingle is best - Certainteed or Timberline - I know about the class action lawsuit against Certainteen - I need to get this done asap but can't decide if I should still go with the Certainteed - any help will be appreciated - thanks

They are both very good shingles(imo).The most important aspect is quality of installation.I would go with either on my own house.I prefer Malarkey,but that is just my preference.Every manufacturer has had issues(lawsuits).Its how they deal with them that matters.

Pretty much all shingle mfrs have had their share of major lawsuits. That really isn't a way to judge the quality of the company. Stick with tried and tested products from whatever mfr you choose. If you have a good roofer advising you in your area they should know which shingles have best qualities in your area. It varies by region.

I replace a fair amount of roofs that are the cause of the lawsuit going on with Certainteed.

However, Certainteed corrected the problem and now, IMO, they make a shingle of superior quality to most other manufacturers.
