new gutters: aluminum or galvanized

I've yet to see a house with gutter spikes where there not all pulled out away from the fascia after a few years.
Must not have been properly placed.

I've never once seen hidden hanger pull out.
I have more than a few times.

A simple job like trying to remove a gutter to paint or replace a fascia is a nightmare with spikes.
I agree with you on that but that statement kind of contradicts with your first one.

They act like a log splitter going through 1X pine leaving a crack for water to get in.
I'm sure it does. I've never seen 1X pine used for fascia until I moved to the middle. Don't have that problem with 2x WRC (a left coast thing).

HOLY CRAP............My post sounds like jeffnc...........Someone hit me with bug spray......and I mean FAST!
