new cedar roof and zinc advice

I would appreciate advice any pro, or homeowner with a cedar roof cares to offer. new cedar shake roof installation underway, and contractor is suggesting adding zinc strip to prevent moss, which was a problem with old shake roof. quite willing to pay if it will extend life of roof, but 2 people in neighborhood have commented that zinc added to their cedar
roofs did nothing for moss problem. I am in ontario, canada. maybe we don't get enough rain ,like west coast to dissolve zinc? or maybe moss to far advanced to stop? so the question is , should i have the zinc installed?
thank you

Zinc is generally added to roofsto preven algae growth, not moss as far as I know.
