I am going to install a new roof on my shop, and am considering buying an air nailer. Sounds quicker and easier than a hammer right? I am looking at either a Bostitch U/RN46-1 or a DeWalt 51321 coil nailers. Any thoughts pro or con on either one? Also how do you figure how many coils of nails do you need /square of shingles?
Decide on your nailing pattern, see how many nails in a case of coils, check how many shingles per bundle and bundles per square for your roofing. Then you can decide how many cases of nails you'll need.
I got the Rigid coil roofing nailer, because it got good reviews and was cheaper than the Bostich. I've been very happy with it. Can do bump or sequential firing with the flip of a switch. (Probably doesn't matter for the pros, but occasionally when precision matters I like to turn off bump firing).
