Mounting Item to Roof

Hey all,

I am new here and looking for some help. I am trying to figure out the best way to mount a seasonal item to my roof, without causing any leaking issues.
Pretty much just need to mount some Christmas lights on a custom frame on my roof. Weighs around 5-10 lbs total and about 11' W x 10' L.

Any Ideas?

I would use sand bags if the pitch was low enough.

+1 on sand bags.

Is it close to the edge of the roof or square in the middle?

You could mount some brackets in the fascia or rake boards but I do not like putting anything through the roof deck unless there is no other option available. If you have to go through the deck, have a roofer do it and make it a permanent bracket that can be utilized the next season and so on.

Thanks for all the replies. The grade of the roof isn't all that steep.
Here is what I am working with. Probably kind of hard to judge in the dark but only picture I have at the moment. Sand bags was my first idea, but wasn't sure if there was a better way of doing it.
