Default Metal Roofing

I hope this is not a stupid question, it may be to some. What the problem is, is the unsqareness of buildings when trying to apply a metal roof system. On the 1st sheet of metal applied what I have done is line up the overlapping edge with the gable edge(rake edge) of the house and hang it over 1" this being done if the gable is not square, then you have an unsquare edge at the eave. This being said, how is it possible to predrill or prepunch your metal fastener holes to keep all screws in a straight line across roof. And is it normal practice to cut your eve edge square after all the sheets of metal are up and fastened. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
