Metal Roof is Rusting
I have a metal roof that is rusting. Actually two of them on two different houses I own. One roof appears to have an aluminum roof coating and the other one is painted red. Both need some kind of maintenance as they both have rust but aren't leaking yet.

What is the best way to fix this issue? I was thinking of using a power washer to remove the rust, waiting a day to dry and then using Henry aluminum roof coating? Any better ideas?

I doubt washing will remove rust. It might knock off some scale. If there are any leaks, the power washer should find them. Best spray away from the seam, not towards them.

Depending on the state of the rust, you may be able to use a rust-inhibiting primer after the power washing and drying to stop the rust in its tracks.

There are various brands available. Talk to your local roofing supplier or paint supplier to find which will work best for your situation.

aluminum coatings on a steel roof could also be causing a problem
