Metal roof and need attic ventilation
We have a metal roof (4 yrs. old). Upon selling the house, the inspector said we must have proper ventilation in attic. We have soffits on eaves around the house. We have plain gable vents, but two are on one side of the house and none on the other side because of a fireplace on the end. Ridge vent can't be done due to existing metal roof and the cost effectiveness. The little vents we "did" have were covered up by the metal roof. Cutting a hole in the roof to put an attic fan can lead to leaks down the road in the roof. Would two gable fan vents (electric) being on one side of the house and not the other side (due to the fireplace) be adequate enough for an inspector and for attic ventilation? I read gable vent fans have to be on BOTH sides of the house. (We have a fireplace on one side so that's not possible.) Gable have cause electrical fire issues too. The inspector said ridge vent or gable vents on both ends...neither are doable as what I have already said. What do we do.
