Metal Roof Leaking

I have a barn, it is 36x72 feet. I noticed a leak the other day. The sections of sheet panels are all " 2x16" one piece, 16ft to the peak. I notice some screws backing out here and there. How should I go about trying to stop the leak? should I back out the screws that are loose and replace them with the rubber washer type screws? I dont see any breaks or cracks in the sheets of roofing itself. Thank you...

That would be a good place to start.
Any gaps at the peak?

Yes, I would replace all the screws with new, neoprene washered ones. With any luck, the original screws were the smaller ones so that if you replace them with the larger then they will both grab the wood and seal the hole.

Both good advice. If that doesnt get it, try a polyurea spray in place membrane system.

I replaced some screws, most were lose on the ridge. I notice some rust in spots, dont know how old the roof is. Is there any way to slow down or stop the rust before it gets through the tin? some kind of spray maybe? I will have to wait for a good rain to see if leak stops.

Yes. For any roof restoration, you need to clean the rust off. Take as much as you need to until all scale rust is gone, surface rust remains, but 90% discarded, in other words, down to solid metal. Aply a zinc-enriched primer to all affected areas, paint or restore.

so in other words, wire brush as best I can and then apply primer? this will take hours as the roof is so big. any easier method? thanks in advance.
