Just had a metal roof installed on 2x2 strapping. I want to know if the ridge vent is supposed to have the plywood cut out on both sides of the ridge board. The existing vents were just taken out to allow air flow to go up between the metal tiles and existing ashphalt roof.
Yes, a strip of roof sheathing should have been cut out along the ridge. Just removing the old vents and going over them won't cut it. Now air will not have a direct route outside and will essentially have to travel around a corner to escape. And if the strapping was installed horizontally, it will more than likely cut off all air flow alltogether. Sounds like the roofers got a little lazy on you.
