Metal Roof

My home was damaged by the recent tornadoes and I had little roof damage to the existing shingles, so the roofer put a metal roof on top of the shingles with only a ridge cap. Is this going to be OK? I'm a young widow and I have know idea if this was done right. Would someone tell me and by th way my roof has a 12 pitch. It's steep - like an A Frame.

Metal Roof

ideally you want the shingles removed, but installing a metal roof over shingles is acceptable too.

Metal Roof

I'm not a roofer but I thought it had to be furred out first so that the metal does not come in direct contact with the shingles?

Yes, furring is needed over shingles. There isn't much info in the original post so I didn't go much into detail.
