Metal over fiberglass shingles - steep slope

napper Newbie   Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: L.A. (lower Alabama!) Posts: 26	Metal over fiberglass shingles - steep slope I am considering placing a metal roof over an existing fiberglass shingle roof. It is a 20/12 pitch. (true A frame house) Would I need to remove the existing roof? This process could be a real pain on a 20/12 slope.

Metal roofing is often applied over shingles but that also depends on what system or manufacturer. Check out the "ask the experts" foum at metalroof.com they're very helpful.

Gravity is your friend Always better to start with a clean slate, especially when it comes to metal. If you can, do.
