Metal over fiberglass shingles - steep slope

I am considering placing a metal roof over an existing fiberglass shingle roof. It is a 20/12 pitch. (true A frame house)

Would I need to remove the existing roof? This process could be a real pain on a 20/12 slope.

Metal roofing is often applied over shingles but that also depends on what system or manufacturer. Check out the "ask the experts" foum at metalroof.com they're very helpful.

Pain? Gravity is your friend

Always better to start with a clean slate, especially when it comes to metal. If you can, do.

You may not "Need" to do a tear-off, but if you want it to last and not have the fasteners back out from a toggling effect, then you should do a tear-off and inspect and repair the decking if necessary.
