Mansard Shed Roof
Older shed with Mansard roof, previous owner built. Leaks around the top edge now. Looks like he just bent the 3 tabs for the transission. What can I do to prevent future leaks? I was thinking of going up to the first edge and adding some flashing and then continue to the top?

Thanks CK

If it were mine, I would do it as you say youre going to.

I have had customers say no to the flashing at this transition because of the few dollars extra involved with doing it right. :(

You can get a colored flashing, similar to a drip edge, to make the transition with, so it isn't as noticable....sad to say anyone would skimp on $20 worth of flashing, not to mention it is a pain to fold shingles over a transition. Also, the shingles will fail pre-maturely on the edge due to being bent over.

you can also break up the transition with a trim board running accross it.we often use Aztek,or a Permatrim material with stainless nails for no maintenence. makes it look nice
