I've noticed that Tri State Metal in Elmsford Ny 914-347-8157 is a distributer for Malarkey. That is close enough to me to warrant consideration. I've noticed here on the board that those of you who can get them seem too favor them. So then, what's the real story on Malarkey? :whistling2:

No real story.

They seem to be a very highly rated shingle manufacturing company.

Greg Malarkey has some very insightful comments about the shingle manufacturing process and the susceptibility to hail damage and the superior performances attributed to the shingle manufactured using modified bitumen instead of standard asphalt.

They are slightly higher priced from what I interpret.

They just are not available at any of the shingle supply houses I deal with in the Chicago area.

I would offer them if they were readily available though.

I see. Are they the only ones with bitumen process?

Well I just got off the phone with Tri State. They don't stock the Malarkey but they can get the 50 year legacy for the mere pittance of $120 a square.

I suppose I should mention that one would need to pay the freight fob from the great state of Washington, and that sir is no malarkey !

I believe IKO has a modified bitumen shingle too, but their reputation as a manufacturer does not carry much weight with professional roofing contractors who give a darn.
