Low ceiling and small space

We just bought a house in MI and our upstairs is only about 6'. It is also a very small space you walk up and there is a landing and then a room, but there is no door to the room. We are trying to possibly make two bedrooms, but we are having trouble trying to figure out how to do this any ideas or help would be great.

Give a call to your local Building Department to keep people safe in those bedrooms: http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=...1txlzU01V4JQIg

I would post this subject in Carpentry, building & Construction, Remodeling or one of a few other categories rather than roofing.
I think you'll get better responses there.
