Question

lint collection in roof vent

Hi, I just discovered a large moist collection of lint which was visible from my driveway.
I went up there and cleaned out two big handfuls of lint. Some dry but mostly moist and even molding lint. Feels like there is more to be cleaned.
Has a plastic black hood with a back slant. Does it open up?
How can I clean this out and prevent it from happening again?
Any advice?

If you can get in your attic, then carefully disconnect the flexible ducting from the attachment to the damper vent. clean it out or replace it. They sell it at the big box stores.

It can create a fire hazard if not cleaned out properly.

Does it look like this?

This is a photo of what happens to the damper exhaust vents on roofs, if the screen is not maintained and cleaned on occassion.

Try installing a secondary lint filter somewhere in the laundry room to minimize the lint getting further down the line where it's a pain to clean.
