Leaky roof


Hello,

New roof as of this fall and have a leak see picture. any thoughts? I know this is where it is leaking for sure. spoke to the contractor and he is telling me it is leaking because the facsia is missing?

That and it's flashed wrong.
That flashing needed to run all the way to the end of the fashia.

and I would like to see the valley extended a tiny bit as well.

Given the snow and ice accumulation there, that may be a problematic spot in the future.

Yes, those steps have to extend behind the fascia to a point below the soffit itself. I always try to cut the fascia loose and put my step flashing behind the wood itself.
In addition, the vally is supposed to come out 4" minimum to throw water out from the fascia.

i have concerns about the amount of ice I see farther under there. That may be coming from farther up.

It would be interesting to remove that soffit and see what they did under it.
Did they at least use Storm and Ice Shield on the lower part of the roof?

Can you please post a wider shot of this area so we can see how this all comes together? Take a couple so we can get the whole picture. It looks like you have very little slope to drain in the valley above if I am seeing this correctly.
