Leaking flashing

Hi all. New guy here. I have a question about who the right repair person would be to contact regarding leaky chimney flashing? Roofer or chimney repair?

If your positive it's just the flashing a trusted local handyman might be your best bet, but you asked about a roofer or a chimney man, so I would advise the roofer, he'll probably be cheaper than the chimney guy.

Hope that helps out & welcome to the forums! :D

Thanks housedocs. I'm quite sure it's the flashing. I redone the roof about 4 years ago and the flashing at the time was an issue. I have since noticed a slight stream of water that is running down the chimney from under the soffit.

an experienced ROOFER (not any toothless shingler) should be able to take care of the chimney flashings. I would not trust any old handyman to work on your roof, as he is most likely underinsured and underqualified. Look for a reputable roofing company and expect to pay more than a handyman for their expertise and professionalism.

Any good carpenter or roofer could fix your roof problem.

A general handyman though I would not enlist for such a project.

I finally found a carpenter that has the personal strength to admit that he knows jack about roofing. AMEN!

Carpenters should stick to building and leave the waterproofing to the roofers. I have repair countless roofs installed by carpenters.
