Leak near blown-out room dormer

I have a leak that is approximate under the side window of a large dormer(?) where prior owner blew-out the original roof to make a room. The roof changes pitch about 3 ft before where this leak occurs so I was thinking it might be there ... My big question is how to troubleshoot?

Do I have to pull off the aluminum siding ... If so, how do I do that?

Thanks
