Laminiated Roof Shingles

Are special shingles required for the roof cap? For instance, if the field shingles are rated for 110 mph, do the ridge cap shingles need a higher rating in order for the entire roof to qualify as 110? Is it okay to use the field shingles on the ridge cap?

Custom ridge caps "hip & ridge" or 3-tabs 'if your using a color that can be matched', but not the field shingles.

You shouldn't use the field shingles for starter strips either unless you cut the lower 'exposed portion' off and just use the nailer portion as your starter.
The make starter strips or you can use 3-tabs for that as well.
